Builders and designers are enthusiastic about the future possibilities with taller timber buildings to apply from May 1 in the National Construction Code, which is a major breakthrough for the timber and construction sectors.
The major national event Frame Australia Conference and Exhibition will be held just three weeks later on Monday 23 May at Park Hyatt Melbourne, and attendance is expected to be an all-time high with delegates already registering to attend.
The conference theme “Building construction with prefabricated timber and engineered wood” speaker sessions will cover the vast potential for timber building systems in multi-residential construction, with presentations by architects, engineers, developers and builders, along with speakers on engineered timber and prefabrication.
Program highlights include Australia’s largest timber apartment projects currently underway, how to save 25% in construction costs, automated and robotic manufacturing of prefabricated timber frames, and the latest on fully panelised floors and walls for housing.
Speakers from Europe, Canada, USA and local experts will present in parallel sessions on building design and construction topics, and on timber prefabrication topics, to enable a one day event program.
Conference director Kevin Ezard said “It will be a fantastic program with a wide range of subjects including creative architecture, engineering solutions, timber construction systems and cost comparisons, plus the latest in prefabrication of lightweight timber and mass timber CLT buildings”.
“Our Principal Supporter will again be WoodSolutions in their role of providing technical advice and assistance to designers and builders considering the construction benefits from these new timber building systems now emerging in Australia”.
Kevin added “The exhibition booths at Frame 2016 will provide suppliers a unique opportunity to showcase their market offer and interact with delegates from building design and construction; engineered wood; and timber prefabrication systems.
“The Frame event plays a pivotal role in bringing together the complete supply chain of timber and prefabrication with building design and construction to develop communication and relationships for future business opportunities” he concluded.
